Since Outdoor Outreach’s founding in 1999, we have served over 8,000 of the youth in our community.
Outdoor Outreach's mission is to empower at-risk and underprivileged youth to make positive lasting changes in their lives through comprehensive outdoor programming. We use outdoor activities to provide youth with the support, resources and opportunities they need to become successful adults.

Outdoor Outreach provides positive opportunities and supports for our communities’ most vulnerable youth, helping them overcome risk factors like domestic violence, homelessness, immigration or refugee status, or involvement in the juvenile justice system. Outdoor Outreach opens a world of possibility to these youth through two primary drivers:

  • The experiences
  • The relationships

Our programs provide opportunities for young people to surf, climb, paddle and more, engaging them in meaningful learning activities that promote a strong sense of self, belonging and resiliency. Furthermore, the opportunity to build positive relationships with adults and peers provides participants with social capital through the critical transition to adulthood. These experiences and relationships introduce important protective factors like self-efficacy, social competencies and optimism for the future.

Job training and employment provided through the Leadership Program add additional protective factors, equipping participants with transferable skills and competencies to overcome economic insecurity.
